Greetings, everyone, and welcome to The News School. Perhaps you’ve always been a reader and would like to write professionally, but are not sure your skills in grammar and punctuation are polished enough to allow you to do so. Maybe you are seeking a platform from which to publish your work, while at the same time you want to learn how to be a better writer.
Possibly, you are attending boot camp as a first step toward the eventual goal of making a living doing something you love.
And lastly, perchance you simply want to learn methods and techniques to integrate into your own writings in order to enhance the performance of your published written works.
By graduating from The News School and choosing to write for any or all of our publications, you may perhaps accomplished things that you never imagined were possible. Many of our graduates often acknowledge that they have learned so much about writing, including grammar and punctuation, editing, SEO, and journalism.
For some, the boot camp experience has been my once-in-a-lifetime dream come true, but it has also means a lot of hard work and determination.
Should you go on to become a certified writer with TNS, you will be paid a stipend based on the number of views your articles generate. This amount of money will NOT make you rich. It will NOT change your life. It will, in fact, amount to very little. But you will get out of TNS’s Boot Camp Program exactly what you put into it. Those willing to work hard and to learn will find other opportunities to increase their earnings. Good writers who are now or who become skilled enough to edit the work of others will earn additional income. You do not have to come to us with these skills; you will be taught everything you need to know during Boot Camp.
TBS has already carved a spot for itself in the world of online news, and we are excited to announce that The News School is on the path to becoming accredited. We expect that those who graduate from our boot camp program will earn university credit in the near future. We recognize that it was hard work that got us here, and that it will be our dedication and hard work that will take us to an even higher level. There is a spot on our team for anyone who is willing to work for their dreams, and we hope that includes all of you.
If all of this seems overwhelming right now, do not worry. Each graduate of this course who opts to write for our publications will not be lost in the shuffle. Each new certified writer joins a team of other writers, who run the gamut from News School veterans to relative newbies. You will always be able to reach an editor via e-mail, Skype, text or phone with any questions you have, whether they regard writing, editing, grammar, human resources, etc.
There is a place for everyone at GLV. Our staff is composed of a diverse group of people who, first and foremost, love to write. Our passions run the gamut from entertainment to politics to world news to science. We are professors, consultants, students, office managers, teachers, lawyers and writers who have anywhere from a high school education to several doctorates.
We realize that the success of each person here depends upon the work of others. We want you to succeed and we are committed to helping you do so. Sharing what we know and what we have learned with you will only make us a stronger force, and we want you to be a part of it.
To fully understand the driving principle behind our number one publication, you must be familiar with our mission statement:
The mission of Guardian Liberty Voice (GLV) is to cultivate a boldly inclusive platform from which a unique educational experience is provided. Up-and-coming writers and editors will learn how to construct creative, diverse, textually rich and original reports on all areas of the news. Consequently, our readers will receive a uniquely original account of what is happening in the world. Members of GLV will enjoy a community environment where writers are supported as they learn to become masters in the craft of writing. Our success will be measured by our ability to reach new students, to share with them the power of experimentation as an approach to writing, to empower citizen journalists with the knowledge, confidence and liberty to express themselves honestly. Together, we will give student-writers an experience that will measurably enhance the quality of their lives.
The concept of being Boldly Inclusive belongs to The News School and is not just another empty mission statement. This defining principle is the result of decades of education and critical thought on the part of DiMarkco Chandler, our publisher. He is the driving force behind the The News School and the path you on which you are soon to embark. We look forward to working with you throughout your eight-week course and thereafter, if you choose to write for us.
